Love is an Open Door

So back in January I had wrote a post a bout a layout design I made for my friends monthly group that does a layout together every month. You can read that post Here.

This is the finished product of that post. It was a very simple layout, that's primary focus was using the characters from frozen. I took a picture from this valentine's day, with a picture of me and my husband when we first got together to put on this layout. The paper I used was all Close to my Heart. I  love how it cuts in the cricut and it just made a great color scheme for this layout.

The green for the background was actually chosen to give some masculinity to the layout, so at first glance when her group was putting it together they would not assume the layout was for girls only.

Here is a close up of Anna

This is Kristoff. Due to having to make him 12 times, I didn't put more detail in his eyes. Though it didn't really seem nessary as he was looking pretty good.

The door I took a marker to the cut lines to really bring out the design on the door. Unforunately when I did this that marker was drying up on me so the lines are some what faded, though this has grown on me.

These hearts are made out of the New Close to my Heart paper called -   Confetti     You can garentee to get this paper from a consultant untill June.

Month in Review

Hello wonderful readers. It is has been a fun and interesting 2015 so far for my house. Due to me disapearing for a few weeks I wanted to do a febuary in review to let you know that I am still here, but due to several things I had a hard time getting on here to post stuff.

Febuary was filled with fun, togetherness, new adventures and sickness. I will start with  the layout below.

My friend that is a Close To My Heart consultant has a group that gets together monthly. For that group she designs a layout for them to do. She has not seen the movie frozen but wanted to do a frozen like layout, and her group wanted a valentine's day layout. So she offered me the paper to make my own if I designed the layout. The cutting out of this layout 12 times and assembling the people became VERY time consuming. It was needless to say a learning experience. (this layout will have a post of its own over the next few days.

The same friend from the layout adventure has a friend that had to rehome a guinea pig. Which both of my boys have been wanting a guinea pig. So after talking it over, and the decision finally being put on me, I decided to let them get it. While she is not time consuming and super sweet, I have been making her a priority so she becomes used to all the family members.

Valentine's day! So with my oldest son having autism, we get respite care through a program for up to 40 hours a month. We recently had to temproarily say bye to our provider and have been working to get a schedule going with our new one. So date night has been pretty non exsistant this month. So it was a nice treat to go out the day before Valentine's day. This is typically a holiday we don't celebrate, but you will be hearing more about that with a layout in the next few days awell.

Last there has been sickness. It started with my youngest son, he didn't feel good and asked his friend's mom if he could come home and puked on the way home. He had a slight fever but was then fine. The roommate then shortly after got something that caused all kinds of bathroom time. * I was lysoling my house a lot * at this time the baby started getting sick then would be fine then get sick again and then fine never having a fever during this pattern. Finally after a 2 day being fine she got a crazy fever we couldn't get to break. So it was an E.R. trip for her to get rehydrated, and tons of tests to find out it was a urinary track infection that had made its way to her bladder. So This last week has been keeping a close eye on her, because her appitie had disappeared and her drinking was minimal so it looked like he would have to take her back to get fluids pumped in her again...... She has her appitie back now, and is back to her playful self. Which has allowed me back here.

I will end this with I now have a phone that will let me blog on the go with out dieing on me evertime as my phone was doing because it wasn't keeping a charge.

work in progress- mini albums

I've been so busy working on projects that I haven't gotten on here to show finished ones in a few days. The biggest project which is taking up most of my time is prepping for the big trip we are taking at the end of the school year. This trip will be celebrating a first birthday, anniversary, and the begining of summer. For each kid I am making their own mini album for each park: legoland, universal, and disney. For my youngest son I had already made his super mini album for meeting supers at universal. You can see it HERE.

This is a lot of what the albums look like for now. I started off doing mass cutting of the bases out of cereal boxes to make them more sturdy and last longer than what a mini album would if it was made ouf of just cardstock.

This is a more updated picture of the process. I still have some backgrounds to cut out and then the final peices will start to come together for these albums.

Also I am in a card swap group, and we decided to get it back up and starting after a few month hiatus. While the cards aren't completely done and I won't be showcasing them till after they are mailed out, I will give you a preview now, since it is also a work in progress.

Now to see some other people that have stuff going on that is a work in progress go Here. ( this link is a wed. weekly workin in progress link up. you never know what you will find... it is all family friendly though.)

pocket scrapbooking- project life

I love pocket scrap booking for so many reasons. I also love the pre-made cards for it that are made by several companies but probably the most widely known by Becky Higgins's project life.

Many people are a hobbyist when it comes to scrap booking their life, or life is so busy they just don't get a lot of time to scrapbook. It is in those moments I find that pocket scrap booking works so well. I am also a fan of it for vacations, special outings where literally hundreds of pictures are taken.

This was a birthday that somehow got missed on being scrap booked. So while I was going through albums to see what was missing I simply grabbed a few page protectors along with cards I have made, and some project life cards and slapped it together. There are a few spots where my perfection isn't happy, and there is a word that is misspelled I noticed now, that I need to go in and squeeze in the missing letter.
Despite those couple flaws though I am extremely happy with out the event turned out, and it took me minutes instead of hours to put together. (now the hand made cards took some time, but they had already been made.) ***this is just two pages of that event, there were at least 2 more.****

the 2  4x6 cards on the second page were not made by me, but received in a pocket scrap booking swap group. you can check them out from my blog. ( look down the right side panel.)

Cardboard flying

So my posts weren't as regular this weekend, but let me tell you there will be lots of eye candy to come from it.

I will be writing a post on these separately today. but all these cereal boxes will be mini albums.

This is a card I have been meaning to make my sone for some. It is small sweet and simple. Which lets me use it as a surprise in his lunch box, since one thing he loves is volcanos.

Valentine's is coming up. And each year we do different things in the house to remind each other how much we all mean to one another. Typically there are valentine's passed around. This year this simple little mailbox will have valentine's in it each day for everyone in the house.

Each of these items will have their own post through this week.

So keep a look out!

Valentine's Day

Believe it or not when my posts started to stop my crafting didn't. It was more I was having too hard of a time staying away from the toliet from the wonders of morning sickness to have the motivation to get to the computer, since at the time the keyboard died in my laptop......... and geuss what..... it still is! LOL... soo not funny, but having a desktop I was justifying putting that money else where for now.

So where is that story going??? Easy!  A valentine's day layout I made....... LAST YEAR!

For this layout I used the Close to my Heart Artbooking Cartridge. I then used my Spray pen to add some flair on the background to break up some of the solid colors.

**** the links are to a close to my heart consultant's website so you can see their pricing.***

The hearts I stretched in the circut canvas so they would go up and down the full 12" of the page. Due to their shape I have to cut them a little short.

The layout lets me have 2 4x4 photos (page 2) and 1 4x6 photo.

Below is a video done by Close to my Heart showing how easy it is to put layouts together using their Artbooking Cartridge.

spread your wings and fly

So I did this layout going off of a sketch the scraptastic club has up for a sketch challenge.

This is the sketch to go off of.

This is my version. The background paper is Heidi Swapp paper that you can spray or daub with color to have the embossed images show.
Here I took some random sparkles that were on my desk and randomly attached some.
Then I put the same sparkles on the arrow. The film strip on the sides of the 4x6 photo are stickers from Close to my heart.

To check out other layouts done with this sketch and what the challenge is all about go Here to see the scraptastic club's blog post with it.

Darth Vader in legoland

So while I haven't finished my legoland trip layouts and thats one of my goals for this year, I actually got to making this based on inspiration from this post. The layout in it was simple and based of a card sketch that is linked up to the sketches post.

There are some very talented designers at This Blog that do the sketch challenges. While I am playing catch up with many things, I thought what a great way to help prevent from having a crafting block than to participate in their sketch challenges.

Since it was a card, I just did a one page spread for now. This may get a page 2 added to it later.

Some of these cuts I got Here, which are Free for the taking. The woman that cut these is very talented, and while her blog is no longer up and active I was very happy that her cuts are still up and available. I have used several of them and can say that I haven't had an issue with any of them when cutting.

This is the card sketch this is based off of. While I was late catching it and getting in on linking up my Layout I still wanted to take the time to share it, and share what others did with this sketch. So head over  and check out some other people's creations. Click Here

Work in progress wed. link up

There is a fellow blogger that I read regularly from my email, and on wed. she focuses on a project she is in the middle of working on, and encourages her readers to share.

spider man Afghan

This is currently one of many work in progresses for me. Its the biggest one which is why I figured I would share it since it won't be done in a few days like others. It is big enough now that it would work for the baby but it is for my 6yr old. When it is finished there will be black lines going to the center to form a spiderweb. I am following a pattern, which says the ruffling will fade as it gets bigger. If it doesn't I plan to go in to the pattern and adjust it some for if I make this blanket again. Thankfully it is for a 6yr old that will not care about that type of imperfection and already loves it.

To check out the others joining the link up go HERE to read her post for today.

Shark Week

If you couldn't tell with some stuff I am playing catch up.which I am happy to say that I have been making some good progress on the catch up game. The key with catching up is def not just making scrapbook pages but getting the pictures on them and the journaling done.Thats a toughie since I have a bad habit of making the layouts before the pictures are printed, or before I even know what I want to use it for.

So my oldest son loves sharks, which has made shark week a must in our house. While jaws and sharknado is great for entertainment, we actually go to our shark books and the discovery channel for more educational stuff on sharks over that week.

The shark that I have cut out was a free cut from Circut last year during shark week. I then took oil pastels, liquid glass and liquid applicaque to make the water. I used wooden arrows from Studio Calico to point out his shark slippers.  Then to give the layout a little something I sewed on the journaling and put some burlap behind part of the title.

The oil pastels was done by coloring on in a scribbling manner with a few shades of blue then blending them with my finger. The liquid glass was drawn on in a few spots to give it that watery shine and help emphasize waves. The liquid applique is the white stuff to represent foam.

Disney on Ice

Every year we go to Disney on Ice. Which means in some ways we have a lot of repeated liked pictures.
I have one album of Toy Story Disney on ice which is a 12x12 album. With so much of them being similar I decided to make my Disney on ice albums 9x9. This lets them be distinct on the shelf as well as focusing on the pictures and fun.

This layout was definitely using up my stash. It consists of the scraps I had left from my Close to my Heart Skylark paper. Some leftover close to my heart canvas numbers that I colored with a honey colored marker.

Then I used My Heidi Swapp stencil and Mr. mister to make the stars in the top right corner. The wooden stars are from Studio Calico. The writing I chose to do in the pink for two reasons. 1 it was the only alphabet set next to me that had all the letters I needed at a glance, and 2 this was a princess Disney on ice show (mainly Rapunzel) so it went with the theme that will be seen through out.

Love is an open door

While I haven't cut this yet, I wanted to share a valentine's layout that I am making.

the Letter will be written on with my Cricut explore. Then the pink and orange squares and rectangles will be printed paper photo mats.

While I would have loved to put hans by the door since it was him and Anna who sang the song, I didn't have a file of him on hand that was a full body image. So I would have had to done busts of him and Anna or whip up an image of him.

With this being a valentine's layout though I find that Christoff is more appropriate since in the end those two did start to fall for each other. Keep an eye out for when I post the finished layout of this.

Disney Autograph book Part 2

A few days ago I wrote about personalizing your disney autographs, and I shared some of the autograph pages fellow disney fanatics have made and shared for all who find them to enjoy. This is simply me shareing more with you. You may noticed this batch is themed to the princesses. If there is one you want to see that isn't on here, please leave a comment and I'll put it up with the next batch if I have it/find it.
