Holidays from the Heart Gift Guide Hop

The holiday guide from Close to my Heart is live and ready for you to enjoy all the goodies. To show you many wonderful things you can do with the items in the holiday gift guide you can check out all the participates in this linky blog hop. The list of participates are below, and check back over the next few days as that list may grow!

Let's get started with my project:

I chose to use the My Creations Hip Pics Album, with the Sparkle Chevron Shapes.

You get these 5 sheets of Die-cut shapes. Which is great but overwhelming. So what I did first was I poped all of those shapes out and started stamping them with the stamp set. That way they are ready to be used for this project and future projects.
Next thing I did was put some of the die cuts on the cover, for them to go around a photo. I was in debate on which photos to use with this super cute album, so I decorated it with out photos.
The pictures of my son surfer look just great with the colors of the die-cuts. So you could see what a 4x6 photo looks like in these I inserted on. There is actually a little bit of over hand on it that I need to trim off. The pictures however do fit wonderfully in this. Making it a great little photo album since the typical photos laying around are 4x6.
Here you can see where I attached die cuts on the edges to hang over the photos on purpose. I liked this a lot because it allows that scrap booking feel with stuff on the pictures. However it isn't actually on the picture.

Lastly here is some of the chevron sparkles. You may have also noticed through out I tried to leave enough room on each page to make sure I could journal if I wanted to. With out inserting pictures in to it now, you now can see what this cute album could look like and its potential as a gift to a loved one.

Technique blog hop- Naked layouts

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!  This month there are 4 of us highlighting the Naked Layouts technique. This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.

If you are coming from Shirley's Blog, you are on the right track!  (If you get lost along the way, I have provided a list of the hoppers below.)

The technique naked layouts, is where there are no photos on the layout, and no photo wells. For this technique I took it more as a way to scrapbook, and it is a step before the final process. I often will make layouts with out specific photo wells on them, and leave them "naked" until I have printed photos or decided what photos I want to use with it.

With this particular layout I found it really easy to go about this. Since I tend to always take a lot of pictures during fall I wanted to make sure that I had plenty of room for pictures on this layout when it "gets dressed". Also I wanted to keep it simple since at this juncture I have a general theme, but some of my embellishments may end up being more coordinated to the theme within the photos.

Links troubles

This is just a friendly notice to let you know that if you are having problems with some of the links in my blog that refer you to product on my website do not be alarmed it is not you! Recently the Close to my Heart consultant websites have had some tweets done to them to make them easier to go through and more organized. As a result this would make the url's for some of the past product links I shared with you no longer work.

Please keep in mind that when I make supply lists I specifically give you the Item code, which you can search for on mine or another consultants website if the direct link to the product is not working.

With that I thought I would share a fun minion picture that I love as I do love someone with autism.

Which I gotta say I think he is pretty awesome.

This is my son at a Surfers for Autism event.

Rockin Hearts Team Blog Hop- Using stash stamps

Hello! Welcome to the Rockin Hearts Team Blog hop. This hop is actually being done in the form of a linky party, so be sure to check out the other blogs linked below for more ideas.

This month's theme is : using a stamp you have only used once or never.

I for one am guilty of buying a stamp, having a ton of ideas or at least a few ideas for it and then never using it after I get it. This gets bad enough that if my stash gets over flowing these are sometimes the stamps that I choose to get rid of. Today though we are going through our stash to find these very items and find a use for them.

While when I think stash I think embellishments and paper, stamps and other items that stick around for the long term can be a big part of that stash. Something as simple as pulling out that old item to see what you can do with it can in the long run help eliminate the stash we do think about (paper/ embellishments).

I chose this stamp set, which is a past CTMH stamp of the month from earlier this year. While I was so excited about this stamp set, once I got it it was put aside. This may be in part because I was just finishing my degree and became very focused on scrapping specific things which this did not go with.
I decided I wanted to use it for a pocket scrapbooking swap I am apart of so once I figured out that I was going to do 2 colors per pinwheel I stamped out the appropriate color of each pinwheel to make the right number of swap cards.

This is what I came up with, it is a 3"x4" card that can be used as a filler on a traditional scrapbook page, or as a filler card for a pocket scrapbooking layout.

Supply List:
Retired pinwheels stamp of the month
Dream pop paper
Lagoon ink: Z2195
Honey Ink :Z2162
Gypsy ink: Z2190
Slate ink :Z2173
Smoothie ink ( to ink edges): Z2196
Indian corn Blue ink:

Now check out these other great projects that were done to this them by fellow Rockin Heart team members.
