Technique blog hop- ribbon

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!  This month there are 7 of us highlighting the Using ribbon in new ways” Technique as shown on page 17 and 73 in the Fall/Winter 2012 Idea Book!  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.

If you are coming from Wendy'sBlog, you are on the right track!

What is great about this theme is your mind is the limit when it comes to how to use ribbon in new un-traditional ways. On page 17 of the Idea book it shows how to use it to make pennants. Then on page 73 it shows how to use ribbon to make it the base of your layout.

For this project I wanted to find a paper pack I didn't use a lot during this book to get some projects done. I ended up picking the Pear and partridge and loved the workshop on the go layout because it was simple and cute, as well as made me think of Christmas decorating.

This is the basic start of the Workshop on the Go scrapbooking layout for the pear and partridge kit. Other than pictures and journaling (which I marked) there are just a few accessories missing.

Due to the focus being on ribbon, I felt that this was the most important accessory to put on the layout before chaos hit my craft room.
To make this string of ribbon, I just cut small links of ribbon and use a glue dot to stick it. Then I would thread the next piece through that loop before attaching the ribbon to itself with a glue dot.

Due to changing out furniture in my craft room you can only see the very basic part of this layout, as I was unable to finish the details to it once the furniture changing started. This does however show you what I was doing with the ribbon.

You may recognize this design I did with the ribbon, from making a string like this with paper as a child.

Card Swap- heat embossing

I was so excited last month that I was actually able to squeeze in extra time to participate in the card swap again. Every month a group of both current and former Close To My Heart consultants participate in a card swap. We take turns picking a theme for the cards. For December it was heat embossing. Since we are all over the United States we mail the cards to my upline. For some reason my cards took their sweet time getting to her house, so they are not in the slide show, but if you look below you see my card.

For the heat embossing I used silver embossing powder to make the steam from the pot and cup.
Below you can find my supply list I used to make this card. If you would like to see step by steps on how to produce heat embossing, I did a tutorial on it Here.
