Use your stash blog hop- flowers and buttons

If you are joining us for the "Use Your Stash Blog Hop" you are right on track. You should be coming from Shirley's blog.

WELCOME! This month we are featuring buttons and flowers. If you get lost along the way you can see the entire list of hoppers on Rachel's Blog. Let's get started.

Today I am showcasing a layout I recently made with a hodge podge of stuff.
It started out as a layout with out a purpose and ended up an Easter layout.

The white flower was brightened up with pearl paint, and the pink one was made with the art philosophy cricut cartridge. The butterfly got the curl and color from a blue crackle paint. While the piece around Live was pewter before I put crackle paint on it.

This is a canvas badge button that is great to add designs on to. Since this layout was of an Easter egg hunt I figure the best thing to put on such a great button was eggs! When placing the stamp on the button, I made sure to slightly roll the stamp so its edges inked the button for a full image.

I used old thinner paper for these flowers using the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge. By using the thinner paper they are easier to manipulate. Inside of them is a lil blob of glitz glue. To get the small tight look of the flowers I coiled them around my quilling tool to shape them.
I made the white flower more like new by putting pearl paint on it, then put an old green flower on top for color. I attached them with a brad that I put white crackle paint on to then give it an aged look.
Here is a supply list of items I used that are currently in the Idea book.

Technique Blog Hop- Even Easier

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!  This month there are 15 of us highlighting the “Even Easier ” Technique as shown on page#91 in the Spring/Summer 2012 Idea Book!  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.

We would love to see what you’ve created using this month’s technique, please visit Technically Terrific blog where you can share your project and be entered in a chance to win great prizes.  You will also find a listing of all participants and their blog addresses if you should get lost or want to reference a blog along the way.  Let’s get started!

If you are coming from Lisa's Blog, you are on the right track!

Full layout
Left page closer up.

Right page closer up.

I used the cricut art philosphy to cut these images at 2 1/2" Allowing for the stamp I used from the Vintage type stampe set to fit perfectly. Then I rubbed desert sand over the paper to give it an aged look with a sponge. From there I put a finger print and ripped/ rolled the edges.

Perfectly shaped tickets! Using the ticket shaped image on the art philosophy cricut cartridge, I cut a 1" ticket. The image came from one of the exclusive stamp sets that come with the circut cart I used. I again rubbed desert sand to give this an aged image. It was quick and easy for an accent that also gave words to my layout.

I used the even easier technique to make the process of accenting my layout faster. By using the cricut to cut the correct size for my stamped images I didn't have to sit down with scissors and the images fit perfectly to the pieces I cut.
The stamp images I used along with all the other Close To My Heart stamp images that work with the cricut actually tell you next to the stamp in it's packaging what size to cut the image. Which really does make stamping "Even Easier"!

Sonoma Paper

For January I focused on the Sonoma paper for my paper club. I found it to be a very complimenting paper pack. While in the Autumn/winter 2011 Idea book it shows it with very old antique pictures, or for weddings I found many uses for it.

Keep an eye out for a using up my stash with sonoma entry as I still have a little bit of this paper left.

Tip of the month- getting rid of the stash!

For many of us we find paper we love and hoard it, or we find that accessories we just HAVE to have, yet months and a year or 2 later it is still on our shelf. During the month of January I started a year long project- use up my stash! At the end of the year any "stash" that I have left will be going in an end of the year sale. I have posted many of the things I have done with my stash so far on my blog, and will continue through out the year. Today I want to share with you a project i am about to do that will really help you use up some of the random hodge podge papers or accessories that are left overs from a project. These have been called Junk journals as well as the newly popular term SMASH journals. You can buy pre-made smash journals at crafts stores for Micheal, they hold lots of potential, but I feel are more personal if you make them yourself. I am currently about to make three of these journals, one for Aiden to use over the summer to practice his writing as he writes about his summer, and one for Ethan for a similar purpose. The other will be for the next major trip, If I enjoy it I will probably stick one in my purse to take with me to Convention. Since it will be all put together I have to just "smash" stuff in to it as I enjoy my adventure! The video below shows you how you can make a Junk journal.
